Lewis acid catalysis enables several industrially used transformations such
as the Diels–Alder and Friedel–Crafts reactions, and various aldol, Mannich,
and Michael reactions. Surprisingly however, enantiopure Lewis acid catalysts,
which have enabled important asymmetric variations of such reactions, are
rarely applied on a large scale. In my presentation, I will discuss this issue
and offer a new and potentially general solution.
